ROLE SUMMARY
The Banquet Houseman is responsible for the set up of all aspects of Banquet functions, in accordance with The Lodge at Blue Sky and Auberge standards.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain complete knowledge of Pre-function sidework
Be familiar with all hotel services/ features and local attractions in Calistoga and surrounding areas/ activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
Assist Banquet servers with special guest requests and must be able to work as a Banquet server in case of absenteeism.
Set an example for other service staff regarding service standards, side work, productivity and professionalism in the workplace,
Comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.
Complete all opening/closing side duties as assigned.
Organize assigned stations and ensure readiness for the arrival of guests.
Maintain and complete all tasks assigned by management.
Check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness. Instruct designated personnel to rectify any cleanliness/organization deficiencies Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.
Assist in manning the dishpit.
SKILLS
Required
Ability to anticipate and understand guest service needs remaining calm and courteous.
Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, using correct spelling and grammar. Ability to provide legible written communication.
Ability to think clearly, quickly, maintain, concentration, and make a concise decision in pressure situations.
Ability to exert physical effort in setting up rooms from specific standards of each event.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 16 years of age.
Current food handling certificate.
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and coworkers to their understanding.
Ability to communicate legibly.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Some off property venues
Travel in Winter through snow & ice
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting the property.
A constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently
Vision requirements: the constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
Hearing requirements: the constant need to speak on the telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to the general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
