Job Overview

Join our team as the Beverage Manager for The Lodge at Blue Sky, serving the needs of the business, our guests, and our colleagues by managing the beverage program throughout the Lodge including all service areas, in accordance with hotel standards. Directs, implements and maintains a service, training and management philosophy, which serves as a guide to respective staff.

Core Responsibilities
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done!  Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates.   Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Complete all duties of a Restaurant Manager as needed
  • Maintain complete knowledge of;
    • All wine selections available, inventory in all areas concerned.
    • The particular characteristics of all alcoholic beverages offered.
    • Designated glassware to be used.
    • Liquor brands, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
    • All menu items.
    • Scheduled in-house group activities, locations, and times.
    • Correct maintenance and use of equipment.
    • All department policies and service procedures.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations regarding all aspects of service and sales.
  • Check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness. Instruct designated personnel to rectify any cleanliness/organizational deficiencies.
  • Monitor the stock of supplies, all alcoholic beverages, and equipment and establish par
  • levels for each.
  • Complete requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for the anticipated business.
  • Inspect wine by the glass, check for cleanliness, neatness, and agreement to departmental standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Review sales and beverage costs, track actuals against budget.
  • Conduct structured wine tastings giving all staff information pertaining to the wines on the list.
  • Update inventory and P.O.S as needed.
  • Ensure the wine list is updated with wines on the list available and correct pricing.
  • Plan, organize and monitor the set-up, service and break down of all wine functions.
  • Complete consumption reports and checks for all wine and liquor provided.
  • Ensure that all storage areas and service areas for wine are secure when not open for business.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to remain calm during busy periods and treat our guests and our team members with respect.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 years’ experience in the restaurant/hotel industry.
  • Knowledge of wine, wine service, beverage standards, and various drink recipes.
  • Knowledge of beer, liquor, and all other alcoholic beverages.
  • Hospitality Certificate or Degree is preferred.
  • Experience at a luxury hospitality property is preferred.
  • Superior professional appearance and manner, good character to work on a fast-paced team
