Scheduling & Shift Availability
Have Party Will Travel is a catering and event company, so schedules are based on booked events and change from week to week.
This position is part-time and on-call/event-based, and we cannot guarantee a specific number of hours each week.
Event shifts for the upcoming month are typically sent to staff during the second week of the prior month. For example, February shifts would normally be sent during the second week of January.
Available shifts are offered to the event team, and employees who respond promptly generally have the best opportunity to receive the shifts they want.
Employees are not expected to accept every available shift. However, once an employee accepts and is assigned to a shift, they are expected to honor that commitment and arrive on time and ready to work.
Additional last-minute shifts may become available when new events are booked, staffing needs change, or additional help is required.
Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts may be available. Event start times and shift lengths will vary.
Have Party Will Travel is generally closed Sundays and most major holidays; however, special circumstances and client events may occasionally require availability outside of our normal schedule.
Attendance Expectations
Our clients depend on Have Party Will Travel to arrive fully staffed, prepared, and ready to execute their event. Because of this, dependable attendance and communication are essential parts of this position.
If an employee cannot work an accepted shift, they are expected to communicate with management as soon as possible and follow company procedures regarding absences and shift coverage.
Failure to report for an accepted shift without contacting management (no-call/no-show) is considered a serious attendance violation and may be treated as job abandonment or voluntary resignation, depending on the circumstances.
Repeated tardiness, missed shifts, or failure to communicate regarding an absence may result in removal from future shifts or termination of employment.
Opportunity for Advancement
Exemplary Event Staff have the opportunity to be cross-trained and advance into Event Captain/Lead positions.
Captains receive additional training and take on increased responsibilities, which may include:
- Leading event setup and breakdown
- Directing and coordinating Event Staff
- Reviewing event details and timelines
- Overseeing food and beverage service
- Communicating with clients, venues, and other event professionals
- Ensuring service and presentation meet Have Party Will Travel standards
- Helping troubleshoot and resolve issues during events
- Ensuring equipment, supplies, and event items are accounted for before departure
Captain/Lead shifts typically involve greater responsibility and may involve longer shifts.
Employees working designated Captain/Lead shifts receive a higher rate of pay.
Benefits
- Flexible scheduling
- Variety of events and work locations
- Opportunity for additional shifts during busy event periods
- Opportunity for advancement into Event Captain/Lead positions
- Hands-on experience in catering, hospitality, weddings, corporate functions, and special events
