Job Overview

The House Person position cleans common areas of hotel & meeting spaces to ensure a clean environment by maintaining standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Will clean guest rooms if needed.

This job requires a mandatory background check which is paid for by the department. While employed at the U of U, employees receive the benefit of a free Trax/UTA pass.

    • Ability to prioritize and change the course of action quickly, being flexible.
    • Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • Provides outstanding guest service.
    • Vacuums, cleans, mops, scrubs, and dusts.
    • Cleans hotel common areas including restrooms.
    • Dusts, cleans, and vacuums furniture, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies.
    • Uses floor equipment including extractor, buffer, and other machines.
    • Cleans carpets and empties trash.
    • Performs other House Person duties per the Supervisor’s and Manager’s direction.
  • Previous hotel and/or custodial experience preferred.
  • Must be available any day of the week; days and hours may vary, depending on hotel occupancy.
