Job Overview

This is a part-time position at the University Guest House on the University of Utah campus.

The House Person position cleans common areas of hotel & meeting spaces to ensure a clean environment by maintaining standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Will clean guest rooms if needed.

This job requires a mandatory background check which is paid for by the department. While employed at the U of U, employees receive the benefit of a free Trax/UTA pass.

The House Person must have the ability to prioritize and change the course of action quickly, being flexible. Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Provides outstanding guest service. Vacuums, cleans, mops, scrubs, and dusts. Cleans hotel common areas including restrooms. Dusts, cleans, and vacuums furniture, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies. Uses floor equipment including extractor, buffer, and other machines. Cleans carpets and empties trash. Performs other House Person duties per the Supervisor’s and Manager’s direction.

Previous hotel and/or custodial experience preferred. Must be available any day of the week; days and hours may vary, depending on hotel occupancy.
