Job Overview

As Banquet Manager, you will oversee all daily operations of banquets as directed by the Sr Banquet Manager or the Director of CSOS, including the management of hourly personnel, coordinating based on BEO’s catering/events conference room set specifications, freight storage and delivery and any other requests to deliver world class service to clients and the internal team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Requires the exercise of judgment within policy guidelines, without supervisory approval. May select solutions from several established courses of action. Reviews BEO’s and determines any special needs and makes appropriate changes or requests as needed. Supervises completion and implementation of all functions according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Oversees handling, transportation, and maintenance of all banquet equipment.  Ensures quality standards are always applied in order to meet and exceed guest expectations.
  • Is an integral part of the Banquet Management Team and works closely with other managers in the division daily to meet guest expectations.
  • Responsible for maintaining the appearance and function of all meeting and conference facilities throughout Snowbird as directed. Schedules all repairs and maintenance needed for meetings, conference facilities and furniture.
  • Trains staff in safety, customer service, and performance as directed.
  • Supervises shipping and delivery of all materials for clients and exhibit functions.
  • Assists Banquet management team as directed to assure the proper and accurate control and management of alcoholic beverages to comply with the laws and regulations of the State of Utah. Completes weekly audits as directed.
  • Must be available for staff and clients as needed to support them in resolving any problems or conflicts, maximizing guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures Banquet department compliance with all company human resource management, payroll, purchasing, accounting, and company policies and procedures to assure legal, consistent, accurate and ethical operations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of job-specific work experience in Banquet operations in a similar resort with demonstrated competence.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a Food Handler Permit and Tips Cert prior to employment.
  • Requires the ability to use basic math skills to determine the use of equipment and supplies (depending on group size and needs).
  • Requires knowledge of safety procedures and requirements for the hospitality and banquet industry.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as computer, email, telephone, copier etc.
  • Ability to use or learn programs such as Amadeus and Info Genesis or POS. Other computer software programs such as payroll, hotel systems, catering systems, word and excel programs may also be required.
  • Responsible for checking hours to ensure payroll is accurate daily.
  • Responsible for scheduling all employees on a weekly basis (keeping labor budgets in mind) and making sure the schedule is accurate according to business levels.
  • Hires, trains, and directs all staff members for daily operation and quality standards. Completes, distributes and records required corporate paperwork for supervised staff.
  • Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and directs day to day operations of the facilities staff according to BEO’s. Attends BEO meetings and keeps BEO book updated with changes when scheduled.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Shifts vary, from early morning to late evening, weekends, holidays depending on business levels.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight if, necessary, on occasional times of road closures.
  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.
  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.
  • Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
